To remind you to eat the food that will no longer be fresh or is about to expire, Kiff needs your permission to send you notifications.
In iOS, notifications are disabled by default until the user enables them. The first time you enable notifications for a specific food, Kiff will ask if you want to allow them.
If you have denied or disabled them at some point, you can always turn them back on:

Kiff groups all notifications and alerts for all your food at the same time of the day. By default, at 9:00 in the morning.

The watch over function is useful if a food that is being tracked, does't have an expiration date or shelf life or does not have notifications enabled. When you haven't used the app for a while, Kiff will send you a generic message to check your fridge or pantry.
